Buying Condoms Is Still Awkward

I remember as a teenager when I first became “sexually active” and being told be “be careful”. My first couple of visits to the drug store were awkard, uncomfortable, and frightening, where it came to purchasing condoms, especially when the cashier was an older, judgemental woman who saw right through my innocent exterior.
Thirty years later, buying prophylactics from local retailer isn’t any easier, and now the young cashiers look at you with a peculiar gaze, still judging me for my purchase. I’m thinking it would be easier just to buy these respectable items from a online Canadian pharmacy, where I won’t be judged up and down for my discretionary purchase.
I always thought that buying condoms would earn you a measure of respect, and the people who noticed what you were buying would instantly identify you as a person who was doing well with the ladies. I didn’t think that I would be evaluated like a common criminal just because I was taking precautions before I had sex! It’s not like I was bragging….sheesh.
